About the studio
Studio Bjorn Verlinde is a Kortrijk based spatial design practice, founded in 2012 by Bjorn Verlinde. The studio specialises in highly personalised interior and object design for both commercial and private clients.
Each project starts as a conceptual narrative: the result of a deep dive into the client's story, the requirements of the project, its context and the desired outcomes. Ultimately, all our design decisions are based on these criteria.
With many years of experience in all types of projects, our team has developed a broad skill set, spanning creative ideation to technical implementation. We draw the concept, the details and the furniture, and follow up on the execution until handover.
We are inspired by architectural history, modernism, art, music, travel and landscapes, and are always looking for a surprising angle. This mix leads to our atypical thinking, in which functionality always comes first in the design of a special concept.
What typifies us
Geometry
Clear shapes as a starting point: the triangular counter at De Orthodontist, the XYZ structure at l'Abbiocco, the cylinders of Mixture.
Structure
We show how things are made. Existing beams, trusses and masonry are exposed where they tell a story.
Colour
We use colour deliberately and consistently: earth red at Vonk, terracotta at Van Craen, bordeaux at Bar Misera.
Light
Daylight wherever possible, and a lighting plan that follows the materials and the time of day.
Empty space
What we leave out is as important as what we add. Space brings calm and lets the product or the guest speak.
The team
Bjorn Verlinde studied interior architecture at Sint-Lucas Ghent, after a first degree cycle in building engineering at Ghent University. He later also trained in garden architecture at Syntra West.
He worked as a visual merchandiser in the Netherlands, as a lighting architect at Modular Lighting Instruments in Roeselare and for ten years as an interior architect at Rotor in Roeselare, contributing to shops, hospitality, trade fair stands and the fit out of Historium Bruges. Since 2012 he has run his own studio. He taught at Syntra West and has been teaching product design at Howest since 2025.
Interior designer Bert Bonduelle works on the projects, from first sketch to construction drawings.
